Frontline nurse, 26, dies after 'struggling with pressures of the pandemic'

A nurse described as "bubbly, energetic and enthusiastic" by her family has died at the age of just 26.

Trisha Roberts, who worked on the NHS frontline throughout the Covid-19 crisis, was said to be struggling with her mental health and the pressures of the pandemic.

She died on Wednesday, February 24, and a GoFundMe page has been set up by her heartbroken sister, Tammy Lou, to help towards the costs of her funeral.

"Regardless of how many times you met her, she left a lasting impression. She was a bubbly, energetic, enthusiastic person and had a loving personality," said Tammy Lou.

"She was loved very much by all and was a very determined and hard worker. She would always be there to help in any way she could.

"Trisha would go above and beyond to help and be there in your hour of need. She was and always will be our hero. A hero not only to her family but to the NHS. The gaping hole she has left in our hearts, minds and in lives will never be filled."

Trisha, from Bangor, worked at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor before moving to the trauma and orthopaedics wards at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.

"She often told us with tear-filled eyes that she held the hands of these who unfortunately succumbed to the Covid virus and was often the last person they saw," added Tammy Lou.

"Her death has come as a great shock to the family as well as her friends and colleagues."

It is understood that Trisha, who also suffered with ongoing physical health issues, was set to marry her partner Paul in New York once travel restrictions had been lifted.

Any additional money raised from the GoFundMe page, which has so far raised in excess of £1,250, will go towards a charity of the family's choosing. If you would like to donate please go here.
