Friends of artist missing for a month issue desperate plea for his safe return
An appeal has been launched to find a talented artist who has been missing for almost a month.
The concerned family and friends of Dan Venes, 31, say they haven't seen or heard from him for four weeks.
The man from Canterbury, Kent, suffers from serious mental health issues.
The self-described 'self-taught abstract artist' was last seen leaving Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate on Saturday August 14.
Now those close to him have told KentLive that they are "going out of their minds" over Dan's disappearance.
His family friends, Lou Lou Rose, Kay Williams Foxley and Barry Foxley have organised a community effort to try to find him.
Lou Lou Rose said: "We’re doing all we can to bring him home, he's such a kind loving person but he's just very poorly at the moment."
According to his friends & family, Dan was taken to the Queen Mother Hospital having been 'picked up from Sturry Station a very poorly man,' later leaving the hospital wearing a pair of black trousers, a red and black checked shirt, this being the last confirmed sighting of him.
Kent Police have also launched a missing persons appeal and urged the public for information.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Daniel Venes was last seen in the College Road area of Margate at around 6pm on Saturday 14 August 2021.
"The 31-year-old is described as being 5ft 9ins tall with a slim build and short, dark hair.
"He also has a short beard and was last seen wearing a red and black checked shirt with black jeans."
Anyone with information is asked to call Kent Police on 101 quoting 14-1230.
His work mostly consists of colourful and surreal portraits, featuring deconstructed faces and abstract uses of colour and shape, including works such as 'Anxiety Dream', 'Street Light Angels' and 'Light at the End of the Tunnel'.
He is known not to be in possession of his mobile phone, and is also believed to not have made any transactions using his bank card.
His family have organised a search party in Herne Bay, where Dan had a previous address, as well as putting up posters around the local area and hiring a professional drone pilot to search nearby woods with an infrared scanner.
