Fresh plea after 1995 murder of mum found dead with hands cuffed remains unsolved

Detectives investigating the brutal murder of a mum found dead with her hands cuffed have issued a fresh plea as the case remains unsolved 25 years later.

Janet Brown, 51, was discovered dead in her home on April 11, 1995 with her hands cuffed behind her back and packaging stuffed in her mouth.

A builder and his son who had arrived to do some work found the body at her house in Radnage, Bucks.

The mum-of-three had been struck over the head several times with what detectives have said was a heavy object, like an iron bar.

Crimestoppers has now pledged £10,000 to the cause to try and solve the case - matching the reward previously offered by Thames Valley Police.

It is thought that Janet - a nurse - was killed between 8.15pm and 10.15pm the evening before she was found dead.

The case was reopened in 2015 but the killer has still yet to be found - despite more than 700 people being swabbed for a DNA match.

There is no evidence that she was sexually assaulted and it has not been established whether the shocking crime was a burglary gone wrong.

Crimestoppers said the money would be paid to anybody who can provide exclusive information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

Annabelle Goodenough, Crimestoppers' South East Regional Manager, said: “Janet Brown is described by her family as being a peaceful lady who loved nature and travelling.

"Her life was cruelly cut short by this terrible crime 25 years ago.

"Our charity would like to see justice for Janet and her family and hope that after all these years, maybe loyalties have changed or someone who knows something now feels able to finally do the right thing and tell us what they know.

"We believe that everybody has the right to be safe in the sanctuary of their own home.

"We are to offer this £10K alongside Thames Valley Police’s reward to offer a combined reward of £20,000.

"We hope this will encourage anybody who can make a difference to come forward with information they may have, no matter how big or small they think it may be.

"If you have any suspicions at all about who may be responsible for this crime, please do the right thing for Janet’s family who desperately need answers.

"Nobody will ever know you contacted our charity, only you."
