Maitland Showground will be bouncing with the sound of beats and good times once again after music festival Frequency Forest announced its arrival.
The electronic music festival will debut at the former home of Groovin' The Moo on September 25 to 27 for a three-day event.
Punters will be able to camp on site at the Maitland Showground and enjoy the melodic techno and progressive electronic music of high-profile German producers Stephan Bodzin, Serafina, Monkey Safari and Innellea; Italian duo Agents of Time; Dutch DJ Eelke Kleijn; UK artist Henri Bergmann and many more.
It's been more than three years since Groovin' The Moo promoter Fuzzy made the controversial decision to shift the Hunter's biggest music festival to Newcastle after almost two decades in Maitland.
While tickets sold out within hours for the Newcastle leg, the Groovin' The Moo tour was cancelled in 2024 due to poor ticket sales at other venues.
Frequency Forest is promising 60 acts across two stages over the three-day event, plus carnival rides, large-scale art installations and wellness experiences.
However, with a 5000-plus capacity, Frequency Forest is aiming at a more boutique experience than Groovin' The Moo, which attracted crowds of about 23,000.
"Frequency Forest is about creating an escape," the festival promoter FOMO said in a statement.
"It's a place where people can leave everyday life behind and spend an entire weekend immersed in incredible music, creativity and community.
"Whether you're discovering a new artist at sunset, dancing beneath the stars or exploring the festival grounds and experiencing the carnival rides with friends, every part of the experience has been designed to create lasting memories."
