French President Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for Covid-19

France’s presidential palace says President Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for Covid-19.

He was tesetd after showing earky symptoms odf the coronavirus.

Mr macron will now isolate for seven days - but the palace said he will continue to work remotely.

Mr Macron joins other world leaders who have had the virus - including Prime Minister Boris Johnson and US President Donald Trump.

US Interior Secretary David Bernhardt has become the latest member of the Trump administration to test positive for Covid-19, a spokesman said.

Mr Bernhardt joins officials including President Donald Trump, who was taken to hospital for three days in October, to have coronavirus.

Interior spokesman Nicholas Goodwin said Mr Bernhardt has no symptoms.

He “will continue to work on behalf of the American people while in quarantine”, Mr Goodwin said.
