French club 'desperate' to sell Nottingham Forest summer target amid financial concern

Nottingham Forest reportedly came close to signing Bordeaux striker Josh Maja last summer on deadline day but the £4million transfer collapsed.

At the time, Bordeaux president Gerard Lopez told French outlet Sud Ouest, the club "had offers to buy him."

"[But] the player preferred a club and [the deal] was not done, but I do not know the reason why."

Maja, 23, spent a season-long loan at Fulham during 2020/21, but since returning to France he has found game time hard to come by this campaign.

The Reds however, have since added to their attack with the signings of Xande Silva and most recently Keinan Davis to join Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor.

But it is now said that the Nigeria International is back on the market, with the French side 'desperate to offload' him due to financial concerns off the field, according to the Daily Express.

Maja is just one of several players the club has identified as transferable during this month's transfer window.

The club are reportedly willing to accept offers in the region of £3m-£4m for the 23-year-old.
