Freight train hits vehicle in Elmhurst

A vehicle was hit by a freight train Thursday in west suburban Elmhurst.

The crash happened on the Canadian National tracks at York Street south of Vallette Street, Elmhurst police wrote in a Facebook post at 7:47 a.m.

Vallette is blocked in both directions at the tracks, police said. Southbound traffic on York is blocked at Vallette, but the northbound lanes are still open.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured.
