Free music festival coming to Concert Square this bank holiday weekend

A free music festival will take over popular city centre haunt Concert Square this bank holiday weekend.

The over 18s only festival is being organised by popular bars Modo and Soho and has been dubbed Festival on The Square. DJs from both bars will play back to back on a vast outdoor shared stage, which will dominate both venues' boardwalk areas.

Concert Square is no stranger to entertainment and excitement. The central spot is home to a range of booming bars and often sees hoards of people dancing until the early hours.

Festival on The Square will kick off on Saturday, August 27 before coming to a close on Sunday, August 28. The two day extravaganza will begin with a two hour set at 1pm by Jimski from Soho, followed by Lewis Godby and Les Calvert from Modo, plus Louisa Greenaway and Charlotte Major from Soho, running right through until 11pm.

Bank Holiday Sunday will start with Les Calvert from 1pm, followed by fellow Modo DJs Matt Hibbert and Ben Anderson. Soho's Tayla and Callum Whittaker will play alternate slots.

British summertime is notoriously unreliable and while it's hoped sunshine and blue skies will make an appearance, in the event of rain, both venues boast retractable roofs to ensure festivities can continue no matter the weather.

Entrance to August bank holiday's Festival On The Square is free. It's an over 18s only event. Advance terrace bookings at both Soho and Modo, as well as VIP booths on Modo's Paradiso Roof Terrace overlooking the square, can be booked here and here.
