Freddie Woodman addresses Rangers transfer rumours as 'scars' from past see him stay on guard

Freddie Woodman admits he has been made aware of rumours linking him to Rangers - but it's not something he gets caught up in.

The Preston goalkeeper has been linked as a potential transfer target of Michael Beale's ahead of a big summer revamp at Ibrox, with the future of veteran number one Allan McGregor uncertain. Reports have emerged of Jack Butland perhaps taking up the mantle in Govan but Woodman - who previously spent time on loan with Aberdeen and Kilmarnock - plus Scotland stopper Angus Gunn were amongst the first to have their names attached as potential recruits this year.

But it's not something the former England youth international has had much notice of, as a scarring experience of a Bournemouth move from Newcastle that never was provided a learning curve. When asked if he listens to the transfer noise, Woodman told Yours Mine Away Podcast : "Nah, never. I only got told the other day loosely by the manager, he said something about Rangers or something like that. I didn't have a clue. I try not to get involved in it.

"You know what it is like, there are so many things that have to fall in line for it to actually happen. I got scarred from the Bournemouth one. I was dead certain I was going to Bournemouth. Now I just try and focus on the here and now as if you take care of your business, all of that stuff will come.

"I am happy at the minute, I am settled, happy off the pitch and happy on it. At the moment, I am pretty cool where I am."
