Freddie Ljungberg had only been in charge of Arsenal on an interim basis for a number of hours before he was taksed with taking their training session ahead of Norwich.
The Gunners officially sacked Unai Emery on Friday morning, with the manager arriving as usual to take the morning's training session following the 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
However, following his arrival at London Colney, the 48-year-old was dismissed by club chiefs, with Ljungberg tasked with steadying the ship.
The former Arsenal midfielder is not expected to take over on a long-term basis, as has happened with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
There are a number of names linked with the job, including Carlo Ancelotti, Nuno Espirito Santo and Max Allegri among the front runners.
But for the first team, it was back to work following the disappointing display against the Bundesliga side on Thursday night.
Few Arsenal players have broken their social media silence to wish Emery farewell, with second-choice keeper Emiliano Martinez one of the first to do so.
Up next are Norwich in the Premier League. Daniel Farke's side were bottom of the league until their win away at Everton last weekend, and Ljungberg will face a big task to put together his side for the game at just 48 hours' notice.
