Fraudster posing as asthma charity worker scams people with fake calendars in Dublin

An asthma charity is warning the public after a fake volunteer was allegedly going door-to-door selling calendars in Dublin city.

The CEO of Asthma Society of Ireland revealed they had been informed that an individual was posing as one of their charity workers and taking donations by selling calendars in Dublin city centre on Monday.

Sarah O'Connor, CEO of Asthma Ireland, took to Twitter to report the scam, and urged members of the public to inform the guards if they are targeted by the fraudster.

She wrote: "We have been notified by a member of the public that an individual in Dublin City is going door-to-door, purpotedly selling calendars on behalf of Asthma Ireland.

"We are not undertaking door-to-door collections of any sort. Please notify us or gardai if you experience this."

She added: "Firstly, I absolutely hate that a member of the public is being approached dishonestly, and sometimes with a note of aggression.

"Secondly, it feels so wrong that people would essentially steal a donation from a charity in this particular year, when fundraising is so so difficult."
