Frankie Boyle has been cleared by Ofcom over a joke he made about Boris Johnson on Channel 4’s The Last Leg.
Last month, the Scottish comedian said he hoped the outgoing Prime Minister would be “dragged screaming into hell.” The joke came after Johnson ended his final Prime Minister’s Questions with the iconic Terminator quote, “Hasta la vista, baby.”
In response, Mr Boyle, 49, said: “You finished with a quote from The Terminator […] because you killed 150,000 f***ing people during the pandemic. I don’t want to sound like I’ve got a grudge or anything, but I hope a vent opens up in the ground and clawed hands drag you screaming into hell.”

Later in the show, host Adam Hills told the audiences the show did “not wish Boris Johnson any ill.” A total of 11 people complained to Ofcom over the comments, which the TV watchdog said “did not raise issues warranting investigation.”
The stand-up comedian has become well known for his controversial gags and has found himself in hot water over jokes made about the Queen, missing girl Madeleine McCann, and more recently ITV's This Morning host Holly Willoughby. He has been a regular on panel shows including The Last Leg and BBC's Mock the Week, which was axed last week after a 17 year run.
