Frank Lampard names the Chelsea player who ‘wowed’ him during Ajax victory

Frank Lampard admitted that he was 'wowed' by Kurt Zouma's performance in the 1-0 Champions League win over Ajax on Wednesday night.

The French defender put in a solid performance throughout the win at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, which saw the Blues keep their third clean sheet in five matches.

The hosts only had two shots on target throughout the whole match, both being comfortable saves for Kepa Arrizabalaga in the latter stages of the match.

Lampard has constantly urged that the defence is throughout the whole team, something that he reiterated once again after the victory in the Netherlands.

However, he did point out the special performance from Zouma, with the 24-year-old going through a decent run of form.

"It feels huge, which always scares me because there is a lot to do," Lampard said.

"It is six points halfway through a group now and we play Burnley on Saturday. I think we are entitled to be happy tonight with the way we played.

"It is a bit of a blueprint for us in terms of the way we played. The work of the midfield players was excellent.

"The work of the wingers, the work of the full backs getting out to players, top, top players, and stopping them from making passes and easy decisions was outstanding. I could go through them all.

"Kurt Zouma, wow, what a performance.

"That is the blueprint. No excuses now to dip from that."
