'Frank Lampard masterclass' - Chelsea fans love what David Luiz has done for Arsenal vs Wolves

Arsenal's Premier League tussle with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux this evening has sparked a reaction from Chelsea's supporters.

Having taken a one-goal lead through in-form winger Nicolas Pepe, the Gunners looked on course to head into the break with their noses in front.

However, they were to concede a penalty right on the stroke of half time when David Luiz was deemed guilty of having tripped striker Willian Jose, who recently joined Wolves from Spanish outfit Real Sociedad.

The Brazilian striker had broke free of Arsenal's defensive-line and looked poised to pull the trigger in an attempt to bring Nuno Espirito Santo's side level. However, he was caught, very faintly, it must be said, by Luiz, who was the last man.

Billy Gilmour staying at Chelsea is the right move

The former Chelsea man was shown a straight red card for the challenge as he made no attempt to play the ball, despite the contact appearing to be minimal.

Nevertheless, despite the Brazilian's protests, he was sent for an early bath, leaving Mikel Arteta's side a man light as they headed back to the dressing rooms. Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves netted the resulting penalty to bring Wolves level, meaning the two sides went into the break level pegging at 1-1.

Luiz's error was not the first that he has been guilty of committing inside the penalty area during his Premier League career.

The former Paris Saint-Germain ace, who has been in solid form of late, playing a key role in the Gunners' recent revival, has made costly errors during his time at both Chelsea and Arsenal.

And his latest mistake has been greeted by a wave of comments from Chelsea supporters on social media, who have seen the funny side to his error, as the Gunners made the decision to pay £8million for his services back in the summer of 2019.

Below, football.london has taken a close look at what some Chelsea fans have had to say...

As you can see in the above tweets, a lot of Chelsea fans are convinced Luiz is still playing with the Blues on his mind, doing his very best to try and help them stay above Arsenal in the table, as well as praising the business Frank Lampard did to offload him for almost £10million.

Interestingly, since making his Premier League debut for the Gunners in 2019, Luiz has been guilty of conceding six penalties and received three straight red cards, with no other Premier League player available to match or beat that tally since Luiz's debut for the club in August 2019.
