Chelsea boss Frank Lampard says there are no transfer deals in the offing "at the moment" despite rumours that he could be in the market to replace goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalga.
The Blues have been linked with a list of shot-stoppers this summer, including Rennes stopper Edouard Mendy.
But the club are not close to getting any further deals done to cap off their busy transfer window, says Lampard.
Chelsea have already welcomed Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech to the club, amongst others, taking their total transfer spend above £200million.
“Not at the moment. There’s obviously still some weeks to go before the end of the window," he said, speaking to Sky Sports after his side's win away at Brighton on Monday night.
"We’ve got a big squad now, so we will have to look at how we can go forward and get the right level of competition within the squad."
He continued: "I’m very happy with Kepa. With the shot, I’m not sure he could’ve done any better but I saw a lot more confidence in how he was playing. I’m happy with him.
"If we are bringing in competition, it’s competition, that’s the nature of Chelsea.
"It goes throughout the squad, so, we’ll see.”
Despite Lampard's claims, football.london understands Mendy is set to join the west London outfit from Rennes in a deal worth an initial £18.47million, plus £2.7m in add-ons.
The importance of a top quality goalkeeper is not lost on Jamie Carragher who said Chelsea must sign one in order to win the Premier League title.
"If Chelsea sign a top goalkeeper, I think that will make a big difference," he said after the game on Monday.
"The stuff they’re talking about, how much they’ve actually spent, it is club money in some ways, but until they change the ‘keeper, they haven’t got a chance."
