Frank Lampard has revealed that former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp had a big influence on his first step into management.
Lampard took charge of Championship side Derby County during the 2018/19 season, leading them to the playoff final in his only campaign at the club. The Rams lost to Aston Villa in the final at Wembley, but Lampard was praised for the job he did in his first foray into management.
The former midfielder left Derby in the summer to become head coach at Stamford Bridge, where his reputation as a manager has continued on an upward trajectory.
Chelsea are in fourth place in the Premier League, just two points adrift of second place Manchester City, despite serving a transfer ban throughout the summer.
Lampard has now revealed that he probably wouldn't be in the position that he is now in without the help of his uncle - Harry Redknapp.
"He was huge in me getting the job at Derby," the Chelsea boss told Sky Sports .
"He's close to Mel Morris [Derby County Chairman], he basically put me forward, and then I spoke to Mel and we came together and the rest happened.
"Harry started that process, so without Harry, I wouldn't be sitting here.
"Because I don't think I would have got the Derby job and the year that happened there.
"He was always in contact with me last year, he remains in contact with me now through good or bad results, he's always a good sounding board and I'm hugely thankful for what he has done for my managerial career."
Redknapp has taken charge of 866 matches throughout his career, winning 343 of them games.
