Four men arrested on drug and weapons violations at suspected motorcycle gang meet

May 24--Four men were arrested on suspicion of weapons and narcotics-related violations at an event attended by outlaw motorcycles gangs, Santa Barbara sheriff's officials said Tuesday.

Robert Miller, 32, of Bakersfield was arrested Saturday on suspicion of possessing anabolic steroids for sale and for driving a motorcycle on a suspended license, officials said. Miller was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on $30,000 bail and his motorcycle was impounded for 30 days.

Sheriff's detectives said they were conducting an additional investigation to determine whether Miller was selling the narcotics in association with, the benefit of, or furtherance of a criminal street gang.

Miller was arrested during an event at the Cuyama Buckhorn restaurant in New Cuyama. Because the gathering was expected to draw participants from multiple motorcycle gangs, detectives with the sheriff's Special Investigations Bureau monitored the event alongside deputies to make sure nothing went wrong.

About 1,500 people attended, officials said.

Detectives also arrested Oscar Romero, 24; Thomas Trees, 44; and Russell Gillette, 40; after they discovered Romero and Trees were in possession of a loaded, concealed 9-mm pistol and a .25-caliber firearm in a vehicle. Romero and Trees were issued citations for the violations and released, authorities said.

Gillette had an active warrant issued for his arrest in San Luis Obispo County, officials said. He was arrested and booked at the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
