Four Manchester United youngsters facing transfer uncertainty after loans

Some Manchester United youngsters are still in the dark regarding their immediate futures following the expiration of their loan deals with EFL clubs.

Four youngsters had been on loan at EFL clubs prior to the coronavirus pandemic, with the English football season currently on hold.

Ethan Hamilton was at Bolton, Kieran O'Hara with Burton, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson at Oldham and George Tanner with Salford.

The youngsters were all due to play their final matches for their respective clubs last weekend when the season was originally supposed to end, but have been left in limbo amid the current postponement.

Deals for the youngsters have now technically expired and the loaning clubs are yet to make a decision on their futures as they await clarity on if, how and when the season will resume.

Fifa has already introduced emergency measures which mean players out of contract will have to stay at their clubs until the end of the season, while loan moves may be extended until necessary for a season to end.

MEN Sport understands United would need to agree to extend any of the aforementioned loan deals, although there is no indication they would object to letting their players gain more valuable experience away from the club.

Borthwick-Jackson has not played for United since he signed a four-year contract in May 2016 and is expected to be released along with fellow academy graduate Demetri Mitchell when the season does finally end.
