Four major protests to take place across Edinburgh this weekend

SCOTLAND'S capital is set to see three major protests across the city this Saturday.

Scottish independence supporters, anti-war campaigners, Palestine activists and far-right agitators will all take to Edinburgh's streets this weekend in several different areas.

Below is a full list of the protests in order of when they begin, including any road closures.

Stand Up To Racism (SUTR)  Edinburgh counter-demonstration

TIME: To start at 11am

Assembling at the Scottish Parliament, anti-racism activists are to gather to counter a protest organised by far-right group "A Force for Good".

The rally is being backed by Falkirk group Save our Future & Our Kids Futures, which has made headlines in recent weeks after hosting protests outside of a local hotel housing asylum seekers.

SUTR organisers said: "We need a mass anti-racist movement, made up of trade unions, LGBT+, community and faith groups and refugee rights organisations that can stop the rise of the far right on our streets and show that Scotland is anti-racist, welcomes refugees and can will stop this dangerous rise of the far right.

"Join us on Saturday and ‘say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here!’".

"A Force for Good" protest

Pro-Union group A Force For Good was founded in 2012 by Alistair McConnachie – who was kicked out of Ukip for saying he did not believe gas chambers were used to kill Jews during the Holocaust.

He was an organiser for the party between 1999 and 2001 but was barred after making the comments in an email to fellow members.

Falkirk group Save our Future & Our Kids Futures, who have reiterated several times they do not have any links to the far right, will be in attendence.
