Four Indians feature in Forbes’ top 50 most successful immigrants in America

Four Indian-born business leaders have been named among the top 50 in Forbes’ list of “America’s Most Successful Immigrants,” highlighting the contribution of immigrants to the US technology, investment and business sectors. The four Indians featured in the top 50 rankings are Vinod Khosla, Naval Ravikant, Hemant Taneja and Sanjay Mehrotra.

The list is part of Forbes’ ranking of America’s most successful living immigrants, released as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary. The publication said the ranking recognises immigrants who have made significant contributions to American business, innovation, culture and public life.

Forbes’ top 10 was dominated by leaders from technology, finance, media and entrepreneurship. Arnold Schwarzenegger topped the list, followed by Elon Musk, Sergey Brin, Jensen Huang and Rupert Murdoch. The top 10 also featured Peter Thiel, Thomas Peterffy, Lisa Su, Vlad Tenev and Wolfgang Puck, reflecting the influence of immigrant entrepreneurs and executives across key sectors of the US economy.

Among the Indian-born leaders, venture capitalist Vinod Khosla ranked highest at No. 14. Forbes noted that Khosla moved to the United States in 1976, co-founded Sun Microsystems in 1982 and later became one of Silicon Valley’s most influential venture capital investors.

Naval Ravikant was placed at No. 27. Forbes said the entrepreneur co-founded investment platform AngelList and made early investments in companies including Uber, Twitter and Postmates.

At No. 31, Hemant Taneja was recognised for his role as a founder of venture capital firm General Catalyst. According to Forbes, his investment portfolio includes companies such as Stripe, Snap and defence technology firm Anduril.

Sanjay Mehrotra, ranked No. 44, was cited for his leadership at memory-chip maker Micron and for co-founding SanDisk. Forbes said Micron reached a trillion-dollar valuation during the recent boom in artificial intelligence-driven demand for memory technologies.

The broader Forbes ranking was led by former California governor and businessman Arnold Schwarzenegger, followed by Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and media executive Rupert Murdoch.

The presence of four Indian-born leaders in the top 50 underscores the role played by Indian entrepreneurs, executives and investors in shaping key sectors of the American economy, particularly technology and venture capital.
