Four held in Madhya Pradesh for hurting religious sentiments

BHOPAL: Four people including two from neighbouring Maharashtra were arrested in Betul for hurting religious sentiments while addressing a gathering.

The incident took place at Udama village under Bhaisdehi police station on February 19 night. The accused includes Vijay, 46, his wife Ruth, 46, both residents of Amravati and Denny Paul, 50, Saibus Ibne, 50, both residents of Betul district.

Bhaisdehi police station incharge, Tarannum Khan said, “Four accused have been arrested following complaints of hurting religious sentiments and booked under relevant sections of IPC”.

Sources said that as per the complaint made to police, the accused had thrown a party at the Udama village and while addressing the gathering they spoke ill of Hindus and tribals. Subsequently a complaint was made at the Bhaisdehi police station leading to arrest of the four accused.

Sub-inspector Gajendra Chauhan of Bhaisdehi police station said, “Both Vijay and Ruth are couples. The complaint alleged that four accused had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and tribals, a case was registered and all the accused were produced before court.” tnn
