Explosions were heard throughout Ukraine’s capital as 20 people were also injured, according to officials.
Following the strike, Volodymyr Zelensky appeared to take a swipe at Donald Trump for not piling more pressure on Vladimir Putin to end his war.
Ukraine’s president posted on X: “If someone is not applying pressure and is giving the war more time to take lives - that is complicity and accountability. We must act decisively.”
Trump has floated the prospect of more sanctions against Putin’s regime if he does not move towards ending the conflict but the US president has failed to follow through with his threats and at times has appeared to be siding with the Russian president during efforts to get a peace deal.

Kyiv’s metro transport system was disrupted by a Russian strike that hit and damaged a train between stations, Kyiv's military administration said.

Five people were injured in the northwestern city of Lutsk where the attack also damaged private homes, educational institutions and government buildings, according to mayor Ihor Polishchuk.
