An Iraqi family living in Norway’s Tromsø in the North Pole has manage to break its own record by having all of its members join the medical field.
The father, Ziad al-Ani, interventional radiology specialist, and his wife Rasha Naaman is a gynecologist.
Their four daughters have enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine at the Arctic University of Norway
The parents had fled besieged Iraq in the 1990s for Yemen.
Some 20 years ago, they arrived in Norway where their children Shaimaa, Asmaa, Joumana and Rima completed their primary and elementary education with top marks.
Despite her love for the arts, Rima decided to pursue a career in medicine because of her distinguished grades.
The eldest, Shaimaa, says that she adores the domain. In her spare time, she volunteers at retirement homes and at hospitals where she performs simple tasks such electrocardiograms.
The second eldest, Asmaa, loves sports, especially handball and biking. She is also passionate about cooking.
Joumana loves mathematics and sports, however, her excellent grades led her to study medicine.
Amid the pandemic, the four girls are studying online but they attend the university for practical courses.
