Foster boy, 14, tortured girl, 6, to death while babysitting her and two others

A teenage foster child tortured a six-year-old girl to death after being left to babysit her.

Antonio Evans was 14 when he set upon Destine King, her seven-year-old sister and her nine-year-old brother in Memphis, US, in December 2015.

All three victims were in foster care when they were attacked by Evans, who has now been jailed for murder and child abuse.

The 18-year-old was originally charged with raping a child under eight, although this charge has since been dropped.

He punched, kicked and whipped the children with a belt while his foster mum was at work, leaving Destine vomiting and passing out after three days of torture.

The six-year-old died five days later after suffering injuries to her liver, pelvis, vagina, brain and back, The Sun reports.

The rest of the victims, who have since been rehomed, told police that Evans had threatened them with further harm if they got him in trouble.

Destine’s dad Trevin King told the  Commercial Appeal : "I just miss her so much.

"We just had fun all the time and she was just so happy and wonderful."

Family friend Sherrie Lanahan added: "She was so full of life and we had so much fun.

"I just wanted to say how much we are going to miss her as part of the family for the short time that we got to be with her."

Relatives said Destine loved to dance and was fond of wearing purple flowers and ties.

She also used to sing 'You are My Sunshine' to those around her and wore colourful clips in her hair.

Evans has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the abuse.
