Fortnite weekly challenges: How to use a D-Launcher

Fortnite’s next set of weekly challenges has arrived, and given the Fortnitemares event going on right now, these challenges feel a little underwhelming. With the event releasing two new challenges every day, they get all of the cool Halloween stuff, and the weekly stuff is left to pick up the pieces. Still, you can’t turn your nose up at 20k XP for each challenge, plus a bonus of 50k XP for hitting certain milestones.

If you’ve only just jumped into this Fortnite season, then we’ve got guides for the challenges going all the way back to Zero Week, plus a rundown of everything in the Battle Pass this season.

Collect and spend bars in a single match (100)

This is a two-part challenge where you have to gain 100 bars in a single match and then spend all of them. You can gather bars by opening chests, usually in lumps of between five and ten. If all that looting isn’t getting you close to your goal, then get your guns out and eliminate some opponents, as they’ll drop bars when they die. Spending them is easy, simply find a vending machine, NPC, or upgrade table and go nuts.

Deal damage to opponents from above (500)

Anyone wise to battle tactics will know that having the high ground is an innate advantage. Thankfully Chrome has made it much easier to get up high this season, as more and more locations are hooking themselves up to balloons to avoid getting infected. Simply pick a high spot and wait for your prey to come to you. Highly populated areas like Tilted Towers or the Reality Tree are great spots to wait.

Deal damage to opponents with an Assault Rifle, Shotgun, and SMG in a single match

Why use one kind of gun when there are so many on offer? Getting your hands on each of these weapons shouldn’t be a problem, as they all commonly appear in chests and ground loot. You don’t need to get kills with them either, just deal damage – a single hit from each will count.

Eliminate opponents at Reality Tree or Herald’s Sanctum (2)

If you’re an experienced Fortnite player then this challenge shouldn’t be a problem. However, if you’re a new player, then check out our beginner’s guide to get an advantage. Both of these locations are highly populated, so it’s best to spawn there, get your hands on a weapon, and pick a fight with the first person you see. You don’t even need to get both kills in a single match.

Gain health or shields by bouncing on Bouncy Slurpshrooms while chromed

Not sure whose job it is to come up with these challenges, but they’ve clearly run out of ideas and just started gluing old ones together. Slurpshrooms are the glowing blue mushrooms seen around the Reality Falls biome, bouncing on them will give you between ten and 25 health/shields. However, before you do that, make sure you get a Chrome Splash from random loot or breaking chromed objects and use it on yourself.

Use D-Launchers (3)

D-Launchers are giant bounce pads. They launch anyone that steps on them up into the air, and usually in a certain direction. You can find them dotted around most of the floating locations like Cloudy Condos.

Visit Cloudy Condos then Reality Tree in a single match

While all this challenge requires is a bit of legwork, it can be challenging to do before the storm closes in and locks off one of the locations. Note that you need to start at Cloudy Condos, so it’s best to land there at the start of a match. From there, the quickest way to get to the Reality Tree is to use the big balloons dotted around the place. Each one will launch you up into the air and let you glide back down, crossing the landscape as you go.
