Fortnite is down - When do servers come back and when is the new season?

Fortnite servers are down - which means a new season is nearly upon us - (Epic Games)

Fortnite is currently down which means a new season is about to begin.

The servers went down around 6.30am UK time after the Chapter 6 Season 4 battle pass expired. The Fortnite servers are anticipated to be unavailable for around five hours during the installation of the update.

To be honest, we are hardly ready for the new Fortnite chapter. Gamers enjoyed Chapter 6 Season 3 as they learnt new skills and fought through deadly Spires. The season was distinguished by its packed Super Battle Pass and a significant Super Showdown live event. It was an amazing season, but it's time for something new.

When do Fortnite servers come back?

The update kicked off at 11am today and is scheduled to finish by 4pm on Thursday. Chapter 6 Season 4 will be launched when servers return.

Fortnite Status has shared an update on X: “Please note: The new Season's PC update will be larger than usual Season releases.”

What to expect from the new Fortnite season

The new bug-squishing season hinted about in trailers will begin when Fortnite's servers do come back online. This season will have a very late '90s, early noughties vibe to it, with collaborations like Halo and Power Rangers—along with whatever other secrets Epic has in store.

As soon as servers are back up, the bug takeover will start. Numerous new skins, a plethora of new weapons, a number of map modifications, and perhaps a few new movement items—which are consistently among the finest aspects of every season—will be included in the upcoming battle pass.

Updates are coming to more than just the primary Battle Royale mode; tomorrow marks the start of Chapter 1 Season 5 of OG mode, which explores Fortnite's history.

A desert biome and rifts are appearing throughout the landscape, and three new points of interest have been added: the Viking Village close to Greasy Grove, the Lazy Links golf course, and the settlement of Paradise Palms (seen above).

Here is a complete image of the updated map shared by the official Fortnite X account.

As usual, though, the community's greatest longing is for the old treasure. The compact SMG, the heavy sniper rifle (a one-shot headshot), the double barrel shotgun, the Rift-To-Go, and the Shockwave Grenade—possibly Fortnite's finest mobility item—are the five new items that will be available at launch.

The Grappler, the Port-A-Fortress, and the suppressed assault rifle will be added by Epic later in the season.

Additionally, you can play OG in Expert mode (without bots or skill-based matching) in solo for Zero Build or in duos for Build mode.
