Former Yeezy Employee Sues Rapper Ye For Discrimination And Harassment

Ex-Employee Shares How Kanye West Harassed Staff And Wanted To Lock Kids In Cages At Donda Academy

Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is currently embroiled in a legal dispute following a lawsuit filed by a former employee of his Yeezy fashion line and Donda Academy. The employee, identified as Trevor Phillips, has accused Ye of engaging in severe discrimination, harassment, and retaliation during his tenure.

Phillips alleged that Ye made antisemitic comments, berated his employees, and expressed controversial intentions for the Donda Academy, a school founded by the rapper in honor of his late mother. The lawsuit detailed instances where Ye reportedly made derogatory remarks towards Jewish and LGBTQ+ communities, as well as exhibited discriminatory behavior towards Black employees.

According to the complaint, Phillips witnessed Ye praising Adolf Hitler, making derogatory comments about Jewish individuals, and expressing discriminatory views towards the LGBTQ+ community. The lawsuit also mentioned an incident where Ye allegedly demanded a Black campus security guard to shave his dreads to retain his job.

Furthermore, Phillips claimed that Ye's behavior escalated to the point of creating a hostile work environment, with instances of verbal abuse and discriminatory treatment towards Black employees. The lawsuit highlighted a meeting at a sushi restaurant where Ye allegedly made offensive remarks towards Jewish individuals and the LGBTQ+ community.

Phillips, who was terminated from his position by Ye in May, is seeking damages exceeding $35,000 for discrimination, harassment, and a hostile work environment. His attorney emphasized the importance of holding Ye accountable for his alleged discriminatory behavior and stated that such messages have no place in society.

The legal battle between Ye and Phillips underscores the importance of addressing workplace discrimination and harassment, regardless of the individual's status or fame. The lawsuit aims to shed light on the alleged misconduct and seek justice for the affected employee.
