Former West Ham starlet released this summer now on trial with Huddersfield Town

Former West Ham U23s captain Moses Makasi has been handed a chance at proving himself in the Championship after going on trial with Huddersfield Town.

Our friends at Examiner Live have revealed the former Hammer has been on trial with Jan Siewert's side for the past week and has impressed sufficiently to be invited on their pre-season tour of Austria.

Makasi came through the ranks of West Ham's academy, who graduated from a scholarship in 2014, going on to make more than 70 Premier League 2 appearances for the U23s, lifted the U21 Premier League Cup in 2016 and won promotion to Division 1 of PL2 with the Hammers youngsters in 2017.

The midfielder was named on the bench for the Hammers first team a number of times but never made a senior bow for the club before he picked up a serious knee injury during the 2017/18 season while on loan at Plymouth Argyle.

After returning in October 2018 and having penned a one-year contract extension earlier, Makasi was sent out on loan once again to Stevenage Town for the second half of the 2018/19 campaign.

However, Manuel Pellegrini decided he wasn't going to figure in his first team plans and now he has pitched up with the Terriers, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Makasi was released alongside Andy Carroll, Samir Nasri, Adrian, Toni Martinez, Noha Sylvestre, Vashon Neufville and Josh Pask. The latter has since joined Coventry City, while Nasri has joined Anderlecht on a one-year contract.

The 23-year-old Makasi could feature for his new side in their friendly against SpVgg Greuther Fürth in Austria on Wednesdsay, their first pre-season game of the summer.
