Our friends over at USA TODAY Sports have put together their list of top 100 players as the NFL celebrates its 100th season.
We’ve already seen former Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton on the list.
At No. 80 is former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.
Peterson, now a member of the Redskins, has 13,426 career rushing yards, a mark that ranks eighth in league history and second among active players behind Frank Gore.
His 107 rushing touchdowns rank fifth all-time and first among active players.
Peterson led the NFL in rushing three times (2008, 2012 and 2015), including rushing for 2,097 yards in 2012, a year when he won MVP. He also led the NFL in rushing touchdowns in 2009 and 2015. He was named to the Pro Bowl seven times and as an All-Pro four times.
At 34 years old, it’s unlikely Peterson rises much, if at all on this list.
When he’s eligible for the Hall of Fame, he should be in on the first ballot.
