Former UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav's condition 'serious', shifted to ICU in Gurugram's Medanta hospital

GURUGRAM: Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had been undergoing treatment for the last few weeks, was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) in Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital on Sunday.

The 82-year-old politician was admitted to the hospital after complaining about uneasiness. According to the sources at Medanta, he has developed pneumonia and is under ventilator as his medical status is said to be critical currently.

This is the second time when Yadav has been hospitalised at Medanta in the past three months.

On September 4, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar had met Yadav at a hospital in Gurugram in an effort for opposition unity drive against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a tough fight in 2024.

In August, Yadav was admitted to the hospital and was undergoing treatment for some of his ailments. At the time, he was discharged after his health condition was described as normal.

Earlier in July, Yadav's wife Sadhana Gupta Yadav passed away. She was suffering from lung disease and was admitted to Medanta hospital in Gurugram after she complained of difficulty in breathing. After her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU). She was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, but when her condition started deteriorating, she was brought to Gurugram by air ambulance.
