Former UGA golfers create exclusive private club, The Rose near Athens

Jon Rahm celebrates in Golf Club.

In the world of golf, there is a strong bond between players who have shared a collegiate experience. This camaraderie is evident in the collaboration between four former University of Georgia golfers: Bubba Watson, Brendon Todd, Chris Kirk, and Nick Cassini. Together, they are embarking on an exciting project—the creation of a new, invitation-only private golf club called 'The Rose.'

Situated just 10 minutes from downtown Athens, Georgia, 'The Rose' will occupy a stunning 588-acre property adorned with natural rolling topography and expansive views. The course is being designed by renowned architect Tripp Davis, who envisions blending tradition with modern design to harness the property's natural beauty.

What sets this project apart is the active involvement of Watson, Todd, and Kirk. As esteemed PGA Tour winners, their insights and expertise will play a crucial role in shaping the course. Watson, a two-time Masters Champion, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, 'I believe Tripp is the right person to help us build a course that is special and unique.'

Construction is set to commence this summer, adding to Georgia's growing golf landscape. Alongside projects like McLemore and The Keep, as well as Reynolds Lake Oconee's expansion, 'The Rose' marks another significant addition to the state's golf destinations.

Davis envisions 'The Rose' to be more than just a golf course. His goal is to create a strategically stimulating and diverse layout that thrives on fast and firm playing conditions. The incorporation of native grasses and well-crafted bunkering will further enhance the course's character, framing shots across the rolling landscape.

The Cassini brothers, Nick and Dimitri, co-founders and developers of 'The Rose,' share a strong connection to the Georgia Bulldogs golf team. Nick, a two-time national champion during his time at Georgia, was also a vital member of the team that clinched the 1999 national championship. Although his professional golf career was cut short due to a shoulder injury, Cassini found success in real estate and now brings his passion for the game to this ambitious project.

'The Rose' will feature an exclusive membership, with the founding members including the Cassini brothers and the trio of pro golfers from the University of Georgia. This club aims to provide a unique and exceptional golfing experience for its members, perfectly balancing tradition and innovation.

As the summer approaches, excitement mounts for the development of 'The Rose.' With the collective vision and expertise of Watson, Todd, Kirk, and the Cassini brothers, this new private golf club promises to become a significant landmark in the golfing world. Golf enthusiasts in Georgia and beyond eagerly await its opening, anticipating a course that will captivate and challenge players in equal measure.
