Former Tottenham forward makes Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino comparison

Former Tottenham forward Darren Bent believes Mauricio Pochettino has a 'way to go' before he reaches the levels of Pep Guardiola.

Spurs manager Pochettino enjoyed a successful campaign with the North London club which saw Tottenham secure a top-four finish in the Premier League while also reaching the Champions League final.

Despite having signed no player last summer Pochettino managed to defy the odds by recording one of the club's best season's in recent times, however Bent still believes he is behind Guardiola as a manager.

The Catalan coach became the first manager in a decade to retain the Premier League title while also capturing the FA Cup, League Cup and Community shield.

Manchester City will view Tottenham as one of their title rivals ahead of the new season, but Bent believes they have an advantage when it comes to their manager.

"It's tough, because he is a top manager and he's managed to get the absolute max out of Spurs," Bent told talkSPORT.

"People criticised them last year for signing a single player but he got them in the top-four again and to the Champions League final. That in itself is a win.

"Compared to the Klopp's and Guardiola's, he's a little bit a way off Guardiola."

"In terms of being a manager. But then people will say Guardiola has only been at Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Manchester City. So it is a bit unfair, it is hard to compare.
