Former Texans TE Antony Auclair retires from football

Former Houston Texans tight end Antony Auclair is stepping away from professional football at the age of 30.

He last played in the NFL in 2022 on the Tennessee Titans practice squad after one year with the Texans following four years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“After a year away from the game, filled with introspection, inner searching and meaningful moments, I made a decision that marks the end of an era for me,” Auclair wrote on Instagram. “I have decided to retire from professional football.”

Auclair was an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Université Laval in Canada. He caught 10 passes for 84 yards in 20 games for the Buccaneers from 2017 to 2020.

Auclair joined the Texans in 2021, first as a practice squad player and then as an active roster participant. He played in 13 games in 2021 where he caught five receptions for 47 yards and one touchdown. Auclair spent some of the 2023 season on the Titans practice squad until he was released on Nov. 22.
