Former Sunderland flop Jack Rodwell on the move again after Sheffield United release

Former Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell is on the move again after playing just 73 minutes in the last 18 months.

The 30-year-old has played two games in 18 months at Bramall Lane, and he's one of four players leaving Sheffield United following their relegation to the Championship.

Rodwell was once seen as the next big thing in English football, breaking through at Everton before earning a big move to Manchester City.

His career has been blighted by injuries and struggled to stay fit, even on Wearside.

Rodwell did himself no favours when he refused to cancel his contract at the Stadium of Light, which was reportedly worth £70,000 per week.

The midfielder spent four seasons on Wearside after his £12million move from City, but is often regarded as one of their worst ever signings.

Chris Wilder had hoped to resurrect his career at Bramall Lane, but Rodwell was unable to kick on at United.

John Lundstram, Simon Moore and Phil Jagielka are among the other names to depart the Blades.
