Former Spurs star makes bold assessment of Man City Harry Kane transfer

Michael Dawson is not sure whether any team will be able to get close to Manchester City next season if they land the big-money transfer of Harry Kane.

City are firmly interested in signing the England captain. With Kane rumoured to be ready for a new challenge and open to a move away from Tottenham, this summer could present Pep Guardiola 's side the perfect opportunity to land the world-class forward.

And speaking to talkSPORT, former Tottenham defender, Michael Dawson claimed Premier League rivals would find it hard to catch Manchester City in the title race if they were to land Kane.

"If Man City sign Harry Kane, you'll think, 'how can any team get near them?'", Dawson said.

"He's a goalscorer and I love him and I hope he stays, but with those kind of figures, it looks like he might leave," he added.

"I always said if someone is going to get Harry, you'll be paying top money for him. I know Daniel Levy and every player has got a price.

"I said it would be a £150m-plus and it looks like it's going to be that. It could only be one or two clubs who could afford him.

"Manchester City seem like they're going to be the team [to sign Kane]. They have a bottomless pit and if they want a player they tend to get them because money talks."

The deal, however, is a difficult one to secure for the club amidst a tough financial climate and with Tottenham demanding a steep fee for Kane.

The £160m fee reported by the Sun on Friday is almost impossible to pull off for City and unlikely to happen.

Whether Guardiola can get this transfer over the line remains to be seen.
