Former Paul Pogba teammate sends message to Manchester United midfielder over future

Manchester United fans' treatment of Paul Pogba has been slammed amid suggestions the midfielder could leave the club.

Pogba is approaching the final seven months of his contract at Old Trafford and will in January be able to discuss a summer Bosman move with foreign clubs, much like his departure to Juventus a decade earlier.

The midfielder will miss United's return to action against Watford as he serves the final game of a three-match ban for his red card against Liverpool.

Fans were quick to criticise Pogba at the time, with United 5-0 down at home to Liverpool with half an hour still to play.

Former France international Bacary Sagna has defended Pogba and believes his ex-teammate would be better suited at another club.

"I love Paul and the way he plays. I don’t want to speak for him, but it seems like things have been a little difficult between him and the fans at times because they expect so much from him," he told freebets.com.

"They want him to be perfect because he’s so charismatic on the pitch and can create so much space they want him to do everything. A bit like now with Ronaldo.

"Pogba got a lot of stick for his recent sending off [during United’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool], yes it was a bad tackle, but he’s trying to fight and get the ball back for the team.

"What do you want him to do, just stand and watch? People think he doesn’t care, that he’s smiling but knowing him he was disappointed.

"I don’t know if he belongs at Manchester United. I’d love to see him shining in the team – he loves Manchester."
