Former Packers star Clay Matthews fitting in with Rams

The Bears will see an old rival in a new uniform this week: Clay Matthews, who returned to the Rams on Sunday after being out with an injury since Oct. 3. After the former Packers star broke his jaw against the Seahawks, he needed surgery and, for a while, it to be wired shut.

Rams coach Sean McVay has been pleased with the outside linebacker, who signed a two-year deal in March to return to his hometown.

“He’s made a big difference. .. .” McVay said. “A really versatile player — very similar to [safety Eric] Weddle, what he provides on the front end in terms of the experience, playing all over the front. He’s been an all-pro inside linebacker as well. He’s seen so many different things.

“I think he’s still got great suddenness, great twitch, really productive getting to the quarterback. And then getting him back off the jaw injury … you could feel he brought a big boost to our defense. It’s great having him back.”
