Former Nottingham Forest defender takes up new job at top French club

Former Nottingham Forest defender Matthieu Louis-Jean has today started a new role at French club Nice.

The 43-year-old Frenchman will now work alongside countryman Patrick Vieira in his homeland, after being appointed recruitment manager at the Ligue 1 side.

Louis-Jean was brought in by Gilles Grimandi, formerly of Arsenal, who took over as technical director last month and has been part of something of a restructuring off the field.

Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings reveals another bizarre nickname

Grimandi said: “Matthieu Louis-Jean will take charge of the recruitment cell.

“I am a man on the ground and I wanted this cell to be led by someone on the ground who is very familiar with the problems of recruitment.

“There will be no change in recruiters, we will not revolutionize anything.

“He has great French football skills and international knowledge, and he takes over from Serge (Recordier) and will take up his duties from today.”

Louis-Jean spent six years at the City Ground as a player, making the move from Le Havre, following a loan spell with the Reds.

He racked up close to 200 league appearances in the Garibaldi.

He went on to play for Norwich City, before becoming a scout for Premier League giants Manchester United after hanging up his boots.

Gunners legend Vieira took up the managerial job last summer and his team currently sit in seventh spot in the league.
