Former Nottingham Forest and Derby County boss Steve McClaren has emerged as a shock candidate for the vacant head coach job at Dundee United.
McClaren is reported to have held talks with the Scottish Premiership newcomers about the position.
The 59-year-old is said to be keen to get back into football after being sacked by Queens Park Rangers in April of last year.
United have also been given permission to speak to Scottish FA performance director Malky Mackay about the role.
Former Hearts assistant Austin MacPhee and former United captain Jon Daly have also been linked with the post.
United are looking to replace Robbie Neilson, who left to join Hearts earlier this month.
As well as Forest, the Rams (twice) and QPR, McClaren has also previously managed Middlesbrough, England, FC Twente, Wolfsburg and Newcastle United.
