Free-agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been the most popular topic of conversation among Tennessee Titans fans ever since it was announced that the team was hosting him for a free-agent visit.
Many believe (myself included) that a Hopkins signing would immediately put Tennessee right back into the thick of the playoff conversation.
For all of the Titans fans who are patiently waiting for Hopkins’ decision, former NFL general manager, Michael Lombardi, shared his opinion on the matter, and he’s giving the fanbase some much-needed optimism.
On his “The GM Shuffle” podcast, Lombardi goes on to state that he believes the All-Pro wideout will be wearing two-tone blue in a matter of weeks.
He emphasizes how there are other teams interested in Hopkins’ services other than the two presumptive favorites (Titans and Patriots), but he also doesn’t believe those teams will get close to the financial offers that Tennessee and New England have on the table.
Lombardi also added that he believes the only team that will increase their offer if necessary will be the Titans because they need him the most.
Not to mention the fact that Tennessee’s front office knows what type of reaction they’ll inevitably get from the fanbase if they don’t land the superstar pass-catcher over the coming weeks.
Lombardi then goes on to essentially confirm the report that the Titans have been the most “aggressive” team in the mix.
If true, this is obviously a fantastic development for the Titans, but until Hopkins signs on the dotted line, nothing is imminent between the two parties.
