Former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll linked with Irish League return

Roy Carroll is being linked with a return to the Irish League.

Carroll left Linfield in the summer of 2019 before setting up his own goalkeeping clinic RC1 Coaching.

The former Manchester United and Northern Ireland goalkeeper then joined up with former international teammate Keith Gillespie at FC Mindwell who play in the Mid Ulster League.

The new club was set up during lockdown and is dedicated to helping people with mental health issues.

Ongoing Covid-19 restrictions have seen all non-elite football suspended in Northern Ireland, but the Danske Bank Premiership can continue.

Carroll is currently being linked with Dungannon Swifts, who are managed by former Linfield defender Kris Lindsay.

Meanwhile, Linfield have announced the departure of Ethan Boyle.

The defender joined the Blues in November 2019 but has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Blues boss David Healy said: “I want to advise our supporters that agreement has been reached with Ethan Boyle for his contract to be terminated by mutual consent with immediate effect.

"I want to thank Ethan for his contribution during his time at the club and I want to extend every best wish to him for all he does in the future.”
