Former Man City player makes Harry Kane 'perfect' Liverpool transfer claim

Former Manchester City full-back Danny Mills believes transfer target Harry Kane would actually be the perfect fit for Premier League rivals Liverpool.

City are long-standing admirers of Kane’s and are believed to have been in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a big-money transfer this summer, though so far the two clubs have been unable to agree terms.

Kane is said to want to leave Spurs in pursuit of trophies, and despite his former club loyalties, Mills has suggested that the England captain would suit Jurgen Klopp’s style.

Mills told talkSPORT: “[Liverpool] should look to sign an out-and-out centre-forward.

“Kane would be them perfectly with the way he plays in that slightly deeper role, the nine-and-a-half position, where he drops in from time to time.

“If you had Mane going down one side, Salah going down the other, Kane in the middle – the chances he would create for them and himself would be perfect.

Mills made clear that this theory was more just him thinking aloud than any kind of expression of expectations, though, saying: “He’s not going there, I don’t think. But it would be the perfect fit.

“Son is a fantastic player, but playing with two quality players either side of him, with Jota there as well, that would be unbelievable.”

“In terms of a fit, that’s the best fit. Do I think he’ll go there? No.”

Kane has scored 166 Premier League goals for Tottenham in 242 appearance since making his top-flight debut in 2012.

Spurs are believed to have put an asking price of £100m or more on the striker amid speculation about his future.
