Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed as new Germany boss

  • Jurgen Klopp has been confirmed as the new head coach of the Germany national team, marking his return to management for the first time since leaving Liverpool in 2024.
  • The 59-year-old, who previously cited fatigue for his departure from Liverpool after nine years and winning both the Premier League and Champions League , stated he is now 'recharged' for the new role.
  • Klopp takes over from Julian Nagelsmann , who was asked to resign by the German football association (DFB) following Germany's disappointing exit at the last-32 stage of the World Cup after a penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay.
  • He was officially unveiled in Frankfurt on Friday morning, expressing that the national team 'brings us Germans together like almost nothing else can,' and has signed a four-year contract extending up to the 2030 World Cup.
  • His previous role was Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull since January 2025, and his contract included a specific exit clause designed to allow him to take on the Germany job should it become available.
