Former Hearts striker Osman Sow arrested on suspicion of fraud and money laundering

Former Hearts striker Osman Sow was arrested in Sweden on suspicion of fraud and money laundering.

The 28-year-old was held with another unnamed male and were reportedly found to have been in possession of of £150,000 in cash at Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport on Saturday.

Both men were released after being questioned, and sources suggest that the amount of money was far less than the figure claimed.

A police spokesman said yesterday: “The money was seized. They are both accused of fraud and/or money laundering.

“The investigation is ongoing, where the most important question to determine is where the money comes from.”

Sow spent 18 months at Tynecastle between 2014 and 2016, scoring 20 times in 45 appearances for the Jambos .

He won a big money move to the Chinese Super League in February 2016, moving to Henan Jinaye for around £1m with just a few months left on his contract.

He teamed up with Robbie Neilson at MK Dons, and again this season at Dundee Utd. The Swede had been set for a return to Hearts and the beginning of the campaign, but the move fell through when he failed a medical.
