Former Glasgow primary school site set to be sold for housing

A former Glasgow primary school site is set to be sold to a housing association with plans to build 44 homes.

A £570,000 deal will go before councillors on the city’s contracts and property committee for approval on Thursday.

Gowanbank Primary closed in February 2018 with pupils relocated to a new Gowanbank Campus on the site of the former Levern Primary.

The old Gowanbank school had been targeted by vandals, with fires in 2013 and 2016.

Council officials have reported Rosehill Housing “first intimated interest in the subject site in August 2018, as the main registered social landlord in that area”.

They added the housing co-operative plan to develop 44 homes “comprising a mix of flats and houses for social rent”.
