Ex-Goodison Park favourite Alan Stubbs is hoping Everton can pull off a surprise victory against Manchester United on Saturday, but he certainly isn't banking on it.
Only a point separates Frank Lampard's side from the relegation zone after Burnley came from behind to beat the Blues 3-2 at Turf Moor on Tuesday night, ramping the pressure up on the Merseyside club.
And speaking to Sky Sports News, former captain Stubbs - who enjoyed two spells as a player at Goodison Park - admitted that these were dark days to be an Evertonian.

He said: “It’s quite depressing right now as an Everton fan. Everton, in the past, have surprised us in getting a result out of nowhere. It wouldn’t surprise me if they got a result on Saturday but I’m not very hopeful. For Everton to be in this position at this stage in the season is incredible to digest.
“It’s not about getting rid of Frank Lampard right now; it’s about the players trying to do whatever is necessary to get a result. There’s so many things wrong with Everton right now from the boardroom down to the pitch because it is perilously close to doomsday for Everton.”
Over the last 12 Premier League matches, no one is in worse form than Everton. The Blues have won just two and lost the other 10 across that period. By comparison, Saturday's opponents Manchester United sit eighth in the form table over the same number of matches.
Only basement club Norwich City and Brighton have fared worse over the last six games, with relegation rivals Burnley and Watford one point better off each.
Everton will visit the Hornets at Vicarage Road on May 11.
