A former respite carer accused of sexually abusing two children can now access the internet to apply for jobs, a court has heard.
Travis Ainsley Muller faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 26, seeking a variation of his bail conditions which prevented him from accessing electronic devices or using the internet.
The 41-year-old previously pleaded not guilty to six charges including having sexual intercourse with a child aged under 10, committing an act of indecency on a child under 10 and grooming.
The specifics of the charges state that one of the two alleged victims was aged four at the time and the allegations date back to between 2019 and 2020.
The court previously allowed Muller to be bailed with "house arrest" conditions to his parents' home on the South Coast.
On Tuesday, Muller's defence lawyer sought to vary bail restrictions on his internet access, arguing the man needed it to "find a job" and to facilitate potential work-from-home arrangements.
While the prosecutor noted concern from an alleged victim's parent regarding the bail variation, magistrate James Stewart said he was satisfied that the amendments would not reduce the risk to their safety.
The bail variation was granted, and Muller's case will return to court at a later date.
