Former Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor has decided to hang up his cleats and call it a career.
Taylor announced his retirement in a Twitter message. He was quick to thank the Browns organization and the fans in Northeast Ohio, adding that he still lives in the area and can’t wait to give something back to Cleveland.
Taylor was a first-round pick (No. 21 overall) out of Baylor back in 2011 and played well as a rookie, bagging four sacks and 59 total tackles. Unfortunately, injuries became the big storyline for the rest of his career.
He spent four seasons in Cleveland. All those injuries prevented him from ever playing another regular-season snap since 2014. His last shot was with Washington last summer after spending some time on the Broncos IR a well.
