Former Browns 4th round pick Perrion Winfrey has tryout with Jets

Former Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey might get a second chance at an NFL career. Winfrey, whom the Browns drafted in the fourth round in 2022, reportedly tried out for the New York Jets on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Winfrey had recently served a two-game suspension after he was arrested in April for assault in a separate case. Those charges were dismissed in June.

When a second assault case popped up in July, the Browns released him before the 2023 season on July 19. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s office announced Tuesday that Winfrey would not be charged in that case.

Before his release, Winfrey tallied 22 combined tackles and half a sack in 13 games as a rookie. It’s unclear what the result of Winfrey’s tryout was with the Jets.
