Bolton-born Amir announced that the project will be completed by his charity organisation the Amir Khan Foundation.

In a tweet revealing the plans this weekend, he said: "Great to announce I will be building a hospital near my village Matore free of charge for the less fortunate.

"The Amir Khan Foundation will launch the project tomorrow at 3pm at Village BHURA HAYAL, Tehsil Kahuta, District Rawalpindi.

"Thanks to all those involved."

Amir, whose last fight ended in victory against Billy Dib in Saudi Arabia, is behind a number of charity initiatives through his foundation.

The charity is partnered with food support group Fareshare and aims to help tackle food poverty both in the UK and Pakistan.

Amir also fronted projects to help people in India during the height of the Covid-19 crisis.
